The romantic drama Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, has not performed as well as anticipated at the box office. Even though it is a follow-up to the 2018 blockbuster Dhadak, the movie has only made ₹15.4 crore in its first six days of release, which raises questions about its commercial viability.
The movie, that was released on August 1, 2025, had a slow start and only made ₹11 crore in the very first weekend of release.
Collections increased slightly on Sunday, but the movie failed to perform well during the week. Even promotional discounts like ₹99 tickets failed to generate a significant number of customers in theatres, and Monday’s figures fell to just ₹1.4 crore.
Chaturvedi and Dimri give powerful performances in the film, which is set against a backdrop of societal strife and intercaste love. However, it might not have been as appealing to a wider audience seeking action-packed or lighter entertainment due to its strong social theme, slower narrative pace, and emotional intensity.
Its problems are made worse by fierce competition from other films that are currently taking the top spot at the box office.
In terms of collections and screen time, Dhadak 2 has been eclipsed by Saiyaara, Son of Sardaar 2, and the mythological blockbuster Mahavatar Narsimha. Dhadak 2 finds it difficult to survive, even in cities, while Mahavatar Narsimha keeps setting records.
Since the film has found a small viewership thanks to favorable reviews, trade analysts believe that unless there is a significant a rise in the second weekend, the numbers are unlikely to increase much.
The film’s subsequent years appears uncertain due to limited theatre availability and other major releases scheduled.
The film’s high point is still Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi’s sincere performances, but Dhadak 2 hasn’t lived up to the expectations or legacy of its predecessor thus far.
