Kate Middleton and Prince William might be getting ready for a big move. According to reports, the couple intends to move from Adelaide Cottage to the magnificent Fort Belvedere, a Gothic-revival mansion located in Windsor Great Park.
Since 2022, their four-bedroom home, Adelaide Cottage, has been an excellent match for their growing family. According to the insiders, they still now feel they have outgrown it and are looking for a larger, more private long-term base.
In addition to providing a more peaceful lifestyle than London, the relocation would keep the family near Windsor Castle.
After only three years, the family is reportedly thinking about moving again, this time to Fort Belvedere, which the Daily Mail describes as “a magnificent gothic-revival mansion nestled in a hidden corner of Windsor Great Park.”
The 59-acre Fort Belvedere features several lakes, paddocks, three staff cottages, a greenhouse, a rose garden, a private outdoor pool, a personal tennis court, and private stables.
The house dates back to the 18th century and was occupied by Edward VIII prior to his abdication of the throne. It also has a castle-like appearance:
Wills and Kate “feel they have outgrown Adelaide Cottage and need somewhere more substantial,” according to a source. For them, this is the ideal new residence. Charlotte enjoys playing tennis, and it has a tennis court and swimming pool.
According to earlier reports, Kate and William may relocate their young family to the Royal Lodge, which is currently occupied by Prince Andrew. That isn’t an option, though, because Andrew won’t go.
The idea that they might relocate to a wing of Windsor Castle proper has also been floated, but it seems that is no longer a possibility.
