Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha is still doing well at the box office. It made about Rs 22 crore net on Day 4 (Monday, July 28, 2025) throughout India. Although it’s a little less than Sunday, the audience interest is still strong.
Day‑Wise Box Office Journey
Day 1 (Friday): The film opened with about Rs 1.75 crore net
Day 2 (Saturday): Collection rose sharply to Rs 4.6 crore net, showing more than 100 % growth
Day 3 (Sunday): It saw its peak with Rs 9.5 crore net, powered by positive word of mouth
- Day 4 (Monday): Though the net number dipped slightly, total earnings hit around Rs 21.95–22 crore net, making it India’s highest‑grossing Indian animated film so far
In just four days, Mahavatar Narsimha has overtaken the lifetime box office of 2005’s Hanuman. The tracking site Schilk reports net India earnings at Rs 21.85 crore; gross figures likely over Rs 26 crore domestically.
Money control estimates put the Day 4 net alone at Rs 6.1 crore, bringing the cumulative total to Rs 21.95 crore.
The film saw huge jumps over the weekend. Sunday’s collection was over 150 % higher than its opening Friday. Monday’s figures, although lower, still reflect strong audience demand. Industry analysts call it a successful “Monday test” for an animated release
Hindi markets dominated, accounting for more than two-thirds of the total net revenue by Day 4. Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam versions also performed well in key regions
This mythological animation is not aimed only at children. It targets families and devotional audiences. The film’s special effects and spiritual theme struck a chord in theatres.
Clips of viewers applauding on-screen depiction and chanting or offering reverence are already circulating online
Buzz was also created by the fact that it had its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India prior to its theatrical debut. It was released in 2D and 3D formats in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam, expanding its market reach.
By Day 4, Mahavatar Narsimha had outperformed numerous earlier Indian animated films in terms of box office receipts. In terms of overall performance, it now formally surpasses Kung Fu Panda 2, Frozen 2, and even earlier Hanuman.
According to Wikipedia, it currently has a gross of about ₹29.9 crore in the all-time Indian animated chart.
The film’s momentum and audience traction suggest it may challenge Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse (₹56 cr) later this year
Indeed, compared to Sunday, Day 4 saw a decline. On Mondays, that drop is normal. Nonetheless, an animated film’s ability to hold its own above ₹6 crore demonstrates its resilience.
These numbers are outstanding for its specialised genre. Even though it doesn’t compare to big-budget films, it’s a huge victory for animation.
Day | India Net (₹ crore) | Growth |
---|---|---|
Day 1 | 1.75 | – |
Day 2 | 4.6 | +160 % |
Day 3 | 9.5 | Peak / 150 % plus |
Day 4 | ~6.0–6.15 | Slight decline |
Total | ~21.85–22.0 | Record-breaking four days |
One of the rare animated mythological films is Mahavatar Narsimha. Breaking records and winning hearts, it’s a landmark for Indian animation.
A new standard has been set by director Ashwin Kumar and producers Kleem Productions and Hombale Films.
The movie may soon surpass ₹30 crore in net revenue and compete with even more well-known animated films if word-of-mouth continues to grow.
As of right now, its first Monday figures show that it is here to stay and will serve as inspiration for Ashwin Kumar’s planned sequels under the Mahavatar Cinematic Universe.
