In a grand celebration of Indian cinema’s most iconic franchise, acclaimed director SS Rajamouli has officially announced Baahubali: The Epic—a brand-new project expanding the universe of Baahubali. The announcement comes exactly 10 years after the release of the first film, Baahubali: The Beginning, which hit theatres on July 10, 2015.

The news has sent fans into a frenzy as Rajamouli teased that this new venture will take the saga to newer formats and platforms, promising a deeper dive into Mahishmati’s legendary legacy.

What Is Baahubali: The Epic?

Rajamouli revealed that Baahubali: The Epic is not a direct film sequel, but a multimedia storytelling project that will include:

  • A graphic novel series

  • An animated web series

  • Possibly a video game adaptation

  • A live-action prequel in early planning stages

The first installment—a graphic novel titled Baahubali: The Rise of Sivagami—is set to release in early 2026, with Rajamouli serving as the creative head. It will explore the complex backstory of Queen Sivagami, the fierce and wise mother of Bhallaladeva, portrayed memorably by Ramya Krishnan in the films.

Rajamouli’s Vision: “Baahubali is Just the Beginning”

At the 10th anniversary celebration in Hyderabad, SS Rajamouli addressed the audience and media:

“Baahubali was never just a film—it was a world we built with passion. Today, on the 10th anniversary, I’m proud to announce Baahubali: The Epic, which will explore untold stories and characters fans have always wanted to know more about.”

He also hinted that the team had been working on this for over two years, and the project will feature contributions from top Indian illustrators, animators, and writers.

Prabhas Reacts to the Big News

Prabhas, who immortalised the role of Amarendra and Mahendra Baahubali, expressed his excitement on social media:

“10 years of Baahubali! Honoured to be part of this journey. Thrilled for what’s coming next in Baahubali: The Epic. Jai Mahishmati!”

Although he didn’t confirm if he will be involved in the new live-action projects, fans are hopeful for at least a cameo or voice role.

The movie, which was first released in two installments (Baahubali: The Beginning in 2015 and Baahubali 2: The Final Chapter in 2017), revolutionized Indian filmmaking. It is still one of the most successful film series ever made in India, with record-breaking box office receipts and widespread praise.

It is believed that Baahubali: The Epic will carry on this tradition across generations and media.

Details about casting and release dates for future Baahubali projects are yet to be officially confirmed. All information is based on official statements made at the 10th-anniversary event.
